Come join Menno Singers and Menno Youth Ensemble on the afternoon Sunday May 11 for unique progressive concert and fundraising event in downtown Kitchener, Songs for a Healing City. We are partnering with The House of Friendship, Indwell, the 519 Community collective and other community organizations who are actively working to address homelessness, supportive housing, and affordable housing challenges in Kitchener, for this interactive event of singing and learning.

The day will begin at St. Matthew’s Lutheran church (54 Benton St) with a walk-and-sing, departing at 1:30pm. We will visit 4 downtown sites and cover about 3.5km to see where and how complex challenges are being addressed as we listen to representatives from our partner organizations, and respond in song. In the case of rain, we will remain in the church sanctuary.

At 3pm we will return to St. Matthew’s Lutheran church for a social-justice-themed concert featuring the Menno Singers and Menno Youth ensemble. At the interval there will be a chance to learn more about the partner organizations and their work in our community. If you cannot come for the walk, feel free to join us at 3:00 for the concert.

Along with being an awareness-building event, 100% of the proceeds for the event will go to the partner organizations, to continue their important work.

Cost for the concert will be a free-will offering, and there will be further opportunities to give financially to each organization, should you wish to do so.
