Beyond Culture Wars: Fostering Solidarity in an Age of Polarization

April 18-20, 2024

Martin Luther University College

This education and discussion forum for academic and faith communities, and for the larger public, aims to counter the ‘culture wars’ mentality and explore together more positive and mutually beneficial ways of relating religion to the broader society.

"Beyond Culture Wars" marks Luther's second collaboration with the Institute for Christian Studies around the role of faith and spirituality in addressing polarization in North America today, and builds on the success of last year's "Our Whole Society" conference. The program includes keynote addresses by Kristin Kobes Du Mez (April 18 at 7:00pm) and James K.A. Smith (April 19 at 7:00pm), as well as several workshops and conversation sessions led by Luther and ICS faculty, community partners, and sponsors. Our confirmed community speakers and workshop leaders includes Leslie van Milligen (CRCNA Thrive), Jennifer Bowen (Shalem Mental Health Network), and Natalie Appleyard (Citizens for Public Justice).

The conference registration fee is $75.00. You can find the registration form here.
